There is something honest about a pattern that has been around for centuries. The harlequin diamond — two colours, repeating, locking into each other — is one of the oldest motifs in textile design. We've rendered it here in the colours of an Indian afternoon: deep indigo, the blue of old block-print vats, set against ochre, the warm yellow of turmeric and winter sun.
The mat is tufted by hand in Panipat, a town that has been weaving floor textiles for generations. The pile is dense and soft underfoot — the kind of plushness that makes you want to stand a little longer at the sink, step a little slower out of the shower.
At 45×60 cm, it is sized to be useful. Place it by the bath, beside the kitchen sink, or in the small in-between spaces that quietly need warmth. It will hold its shape, hold its colour, and hold up to daily life.
Made slowly, made by hand, made to be lived with.
