The trellis is one of those patterns that has travelled the world without losing itself. You find it in the tilework of a Marrakech riad, the latticed windows of a Rajasthani haveli, the stencils of a Spanish courtyard floor. A grid of diamonds, softened by a curve, repeating quietly across a surface.
This mat takes that pattern into a soft, tufted pile. The base is the colour of warm terracotta — the clay of an unglazed pot, the wash on an adobe wall — and the lattice is drawn in unbleached cream, slightly cloudy, the way handmade things tend to be. The pile is dense and forgiving underfoot.
It is a mat that does well in a room that leans earthy. Place it beside a bath, at the foot of a low bed, in a corner where a stool and a stack of folded throws already live. It belongs with terracotta pots, raw wood, and the soft white of an old plastered wall.
Made slowly, made by hand, made to be lived with.
